Consistency With Precision: 2 Keys To Master Effective Training

When you start training, your gain in easy because you have a very low baseline of fitness, however as you progress, most training will hit a plateau and gain become more difficult. By focusing on two fundamental aspects—consistency and understanding training variables—you can maximize your gains and reach your goals more effectively.
1. Consistency
Consistency is back by science specifically the GAS theory. The gain that most people experience is from applying physiological stress to the body and with adequate time to recover, the body adapt and make gains. For someone new to training, sufficient training low loads, low intensity and low volume are equally effective. However, if you frequently have a sporadic training schedule and stop training more than 2 weeks, you will not see much improvement. Coaching client to be consistent in their training is one of the hardest task in my opinion, if I can get my clients to stay consistent, even the smallest and easiest exercise will help them tremendously.
2. Understanding Training Variables
Another important aspect in training is be very objective and clear about what exactly are you trying to improve. The purpose of training is to create structural and functional adaptations in the body. A structural adaptation is an increase or decrease in muscle tissues and functional adaptation is improvement in performance of a specific task. Most of the time, both variables overlapped to some extent most people depending on the training age of the client. If you want to improve running capacity, aerobic fitness should be prioritize and any other structural components of the body such as mobility, core and strength should also be part of the process. Coaches that lack scientific understanding with less structure approach will yield unpredictable results, which ultimately wasted clients time, energy and confidence in their training.A good coaching program is driven by an understanding of biomotor abilities and how they affect athletic performance and health. This understanding fosters a training system designed to maximize human performance and potential.
By prioritizing structured adaptations and functional improvements, you can optimize performance and health, avoiding common pitfalls that waste time and energy. Remember, success in fitness is not about sporadic efforts but consistent action and informed decisions.
