Understanding General Adaptation Syndrome (GAS)
Hans Selye's General Adaptation Syndrome (GAS)theory offers a scientific framework for understanding the body's response to stress, such as exercise. It consists of three phases:
Alarm Phase: The initial reaction to stress involves the "fight or flight" response, with increased muscle tension and elevated heart rate.
Resistance Phase: The body adapts by enhancing endurance, strength, or other attributes like cardiovascular fitness.
