9 Ways To Get Started Learning About Any Topic
Learning is vital for self-growth. As Phil Collins wisely said, "In learning you will teach, and in teaching you will learn." My journey as a yoga and fitness professional has taught me that while experience takes time, acquiring new knowledge is now more accessible than ever. Here are 9 strategies I use to dive deep into topics like yoga therapy, personal knowledge management, and fitness science.
Online Communities: Engage in discussions and ask questions on platforms like Quora, Reddit, Facebook, and Instagram. These communities offer authentic insights into the best courses and sources of information.
Workshops and Seminars: Take advantage of global and local workshops by enrolling in events at least once or twice a year. Sometimes, I combine these with vacations if workshop held in another countries to enhance my learning experience.
Mentorship: For the past decade, I've studied under world-renowned coaches and teachers. Mentorship accelerates learning by providing guidance and insights that aren’t found in books. Skilled mentors help break down complex subjects.
YouTube: Discover credible professionals through informative channels. I found my first coaching certification through YouTube, which then directed me to reliable resources. Be cautious to avoid scams and analyze content critically.
Online Courses: Platforms like Coursera, Udemy, and Teachable offer structured courses. Even if a certification isn't your goal, enrolling adds depth to your knowledge on topics of interest like fitness training.
Reading: Though I didn’t always love reading, it has become a joy. Find out what your favorite authors read and create book notes. Ask critical questions like, "What are the five things I learned?" and "How can I apply this in my life?"
Writing: Transform learning into writing to deepen understanding, retain information, and organize thoughts. Writing is a powerful tool for honing critical thinking skills.
Teaching: According to the Feynman Technique, teaching clarifies your grasp of a subject. Simplifying concepts for others highlights areas that need further understanding.
Sharing: Sharing knowledge helps create a better world. It is a noble act that can spark change and inspire others.
By applying these methods, you can enhance your learning and make significant strides in areas such as exercise science, yoga, and fitness coaching. Feel free to reach out if you're interested in learning more.
