How I Got Interested In Exercise Science ?

My new class since 2021 Integreted Mobility combining Strength and Flexibility = Mobility
Here's the story..
In 2018, after completing my 300-hour yoga therapy certification, I observed that many of my clients suffered from muscle tightness, back and knee pain, neck strain, and breathing difficulties. These issues often had deeper roots than surface-level discomfort, prompting me to explore solutions beyond traditional yoga.
Traditional yoga classes focus on physical challenges, inadvertently building mental strength through endurance and balance poses. In contrast, yoga therapy emphasizes alleviating surface pain and inner suffering, fostering a supportive environment that enhances neurological mind-muscle communication through improved breathing and muscle imbalance correction.
But..
This realization raised two pivotal questions:
How can we effectively design yoga therapy poses without knowing the underlying science of how the body works and how it can help the practitioner's injury or pain ?
Are these issues caused by overcommitting to yoga practice or lacking the strength and mobility needed for certain poses?
The first question underscores the importance of grasping anatomy and physiology—the body's structures and their functions. This knowledge helps tailor yoga therapy to individual needs, addressing both internal and external factors.
The second question highlights resilience's role in practice. Insufficient strength can lead to injuries, making strength development essential for maintaining a balanced and sustainable practice.
So..
These questions pivoted my focus towards understanding the underlying principles of how humans perform exercises. It led me to dive into exercise science, with particular interest in yoga physiology, health science, and strength and conditioning.
This deepened knowledge has significantly influenced my role as a teacher and coach, allowing me to adopt more informed approaches. While I don’t consider myself an expert, my growing comprehension of exercise science has positively impacted my work.
My goal over the next few years:
In the coming year, I plan to further explore these areas and share my insights through writing and publishing. By doing so, I aim to offer a meaningful contribution to the field, providing a harmonious blend of personal stories and the application of science to engage and inform others.
